The Watch

This 1984 Rolex Datejust reference 16030, distinguished by a rare Saudia Airlines engraving on the caseback, is in excellent condition for its 42 years. Crafted in stainless steel, this vintage Datejust also features an engine-turned bezel and immaculate gloss black dial with attractive gold hands and markers. The tritium has aged in an especially attractive way; being a warm, even cream with no deterioration. This watch is also accompanied by its box and papers, including a service card from Rolex.

A sweet spot in the Datejust lineage, the 16030 enjoys the vintage charm of a plexiglass crystal whilst also having the convenience of a quick-set date.

Dimensions: 36mm wide, 12mm thick, 44mm lug-to-lug.

The Watchmaker

Founded in 1905, Rolex has become one of the most recognised and respected names in Swiss watchmaking. The Datejust, introduced in 1945, was the first self-winding wristwatch to display the date in a window at 3 o’clock, becoming a cornerstone of the brand’s identity.

With a strong tradition of watches as commemorative gifts, the Arab world has produced many rare variations that are particularly prized by collectors for their scarcity and provenance, enhancing both desirability and long-term investment appeal. Founded in 1945, Saudia was Saudi Arabia's first airline, and this watch may well have been a gift to a long-serving pilot or high-ranking employee.

Authenticity, Condition, and Guarantees

All items have been inspected for authenticity, and are guaranteed as such. As this is a pre-owned watch, signs of wear consistent with age and previous use should be expected. Buyers of watches should also recognise that maintenance and treatment appropriate to the watch in question are required to protect time-keeping and condition. There is a 6 month function guarantee for watches costing £1000 or more. Water resistance is not guaranteed; even watches originally waterproof may not be so, unless recently sealed and pressure-tested.

Shipping

All shipping will require a form of photo ID & proof of address.

International shipping may be subject to import taxes, and we have no control over the time required for customs clearance. All purchasers based outside the United Kingdom should make their own enquiries prior to buying.
