Omega Seamaster — Circa 1974 (Vintage)

1. Key Product Information

  • Model & Reference: Vintage Omega Seamaster, often seen in references such as 166.0206, 145.029, or similar from the mid-1970s era

  • Case & Dimensions: Stainless steel, three-part case with a snap (or screw) caseback. The diameter (excluding crown) is approximately 35 mm, with a lug-to-lug length around 40 mm, and a height (thickness) near 11 mm

  • Dial & Crystal:  silver (or variant) dial with applied indices and original hands; acrylic (plexiglass) crystal (or original Sternkreuz) is typical

  • Movement: Automatic mechanical calibre (for example, Calibre 1012 in some variants) with approximately 23 jewels, 28,800 vph, and ~42-hour power reserve

  • Bracelet / Strap: Originally supplied with stainless steel bracelet . Often the bracelet is period-correct or a high quality replacement.

  • Water Resistance: As a vintage dress/seamaster model, water resistance must be considered with caution; original seals may be compromised.

  • Functionality: Time only in most models; some Seamaster variants from the era also include date windows.

2. Key Brand Information

Omega’s Seamaster line, introduced in 1948, is its longest‐running model collection and honours the brand’s maritime heritage. Over the decades, the Seamaster evolved from a refined, water-resistant dress watch into a legendary sports and dive line, while vintage 1970s Seamaster models retain a blend of elegance and utility. The 1970s also marked a transitional time for Omega, experimenting with quartz and high-frequency movements, but the mechanical Seamasters remain prized for their craftsmanship and historical lineage.

Owning a 1974 Seamaster is to wear a piece of vintage horology history: a testament to Omega’s approach to durability, design and technical refinement through changing eras.

3. Condition Statement

All items have been carefully inspected for authenticity. This is a pre-owned / vintage timepiece and may display minor signs of wear—such as light surface scratches, patina, or slight ageing consistent with its age. Buyers should expect that vintage watches will often benefit from professional servicing, careful maintenance, and occasional part replacement to preserve their performance and appearance over time.
