The Watch
This Rolex Day-Date reference 1803/8 has a 36mm case made from 18ct yellow gold. The watch showcases a distinctive champagne "pie-pan" dial, a distinctive design element cherished by vintage watch collectors. Another charming aspect of this particular watch is the day wheel's Spanish text. This Day-Date is on an aftermarket, 9ct President-style bracelet. Aftermarket bracelets are common on Day-Dates of this vintage, as the original bracelets of the era often wore out with regular use. It also comes with a black lizard strap with a Rolex buckle.
Dimensions: 36mm wide, 12mm thick, 44mm lug-to-lug.
The Watchmaker
Rolex's commitment to precision, durability, and timeless design is epitomized in the Day-Date series. Introduced in 1956, the Rolex Day-Date was the first self-winding, waterproof chronometer wristwatch to display both the date and the day of the week spelled out in full. This model has graced the wrists of numerous influential figures, earning it the nickname "President's Watch".
Authenticity, Condition, and Guarantees
All items have been inspected for authenticity, and are guaranteed as such. As this is a pre-owned watch, signs of wear consistent with age and previous use should be expected. Buyers of watches should also recognise that maintenance and treatment appropriate to the watch in question are required to protect time-keeping and condition. There is a 6 month function guarantee for watches costing £1000 or more. Water resistance is not guaranteed; even watches originally waterproof may not be so, unless recently sealed and pressure-tested.
