Here is a vintage Trebex Watch set in a 9ct Yellow Gold case.  The case has a smoothly rounded square shape and has a clean and easy to read dial. The dial features the hour and minute hands set in the traditional central position whilst the second hand has been playfully set at the six o'clock position. The remaining hour spots are marked with Arabic numerals. The mechanism is noted on the dial to consist of 17 Jewells. The strap provided is not original or of the watch brand mentioned. Approximate dimensions are as follows: Case width: 27.3 mm, Case Depth: 8.9 mm, Lug to lug: 30.9 mm.

Trebex: Brand History

  • Origins & Name – Trebex was registered in Switzerland in 1938, along with another name “Elem,” under the same trademark registration.

  • Parent Company – Trebex appears to have been a sub-brand of Milex Watch Company (often shortened to “Milex”), a firm with origins going back to 1889.

  • Production & Style – Trebex watches were typical of mid-20th century Swiss-made manual-winding wristwatches. Many surviving examples feature 9 ct (or 9 k) gold or gold-plated cases, classic round, rectangular or art-deco shapes, and mechanical movements (commonly 15- or 17- jewel calibres).

  • Presence in Britain – Trebex had some market presence in the UK; there are records of British importers and retailers distributing Trebex watches.

  • Rarity & Collectibility – Due to the relatively small size of the company, limited production and passage of time, good-condition Trebex watches are rare and regarded as collectible. Many surviving pieces are described as vintage rarities.

What Trebex Represents

Trebex represents a niche, mid-century Swiss watch brand — not on the same scale as large maison-level watchmakers, but of interest to enthusiasts of vintage horology. Its value lies in understated charm, gold or gold-toned cases, mechanical movements and a modest history that appeals to collectors of rare or lesser-known heritage watches.

Because of its connection to Milex and relative obscurity, Trebex is often overlooked in mainstream watch histories — which for many collectors increases its appeal.

Notes & Caveats

  • Documentation on Trebex is limited; much of what is known comes from vintage watch-dealer records, collector reports and occasional watch-forum or auction house listings.

  • There is some ambiguity and debate among collectors about the precise origins of certain Trebex watches — for example, British-made cases with Swiss “Trebex” movements, or the extent of Milex’s involvement.

  • Because many surviving Trebex watches are over 60 – 80 years old, condition varies widely, and prospective buyers should carefully check movement, case integrity, provenance and authenticity when considering acquisition.

Authenticity and Condition
All items have been meticulously inspected for authenticity. Please note that all pieces are second-hand and may exhibit minor signs of wear consistent with their age. When purchasing vintage products, buyers should expect that items will likely require careful maintenance to preserve their condition over time.

Condition & Authenticity

All items are carefully inspected for authenticity. As this is a second-hand piece, light signs of wear may be present. Buyers should recognise that limited-edition or pre-owned mechanical watches may require careful maintenance over time to preserve their condition and performance.
