The Rolex Submariner Date 116619LB, affectionately known as the “Smurf”, is crafted entirely from Rolex's own 18k white gold. Introduced in 2008 and discontinued in 2020, this model features a striking blue dial paired with a matching blue ceramic bezel. The white gold of the "Smurf" delivers a weighty, warm presence on the wrist, whilst retaining the excellent tool-less adjustability and comfort of a modern Submariner bracelet.

Encouragingly for future values and those who want something rarer, the 'Smurf' was a small fraction of the production numbers in comparison to steel and bi-metal Subs. This reference was the only one in which Rolex combined white gold with a vibrant blue dial and bezel in a Submariner. Now discontinued in favour of a less distinctive white gold Submariner with a black dial - it remains highly sought after.
