The Rolex Submariner Date Ref. 1680, produced from 1969 to 1979, was the first Submariner model to feature the perennially useful date complication. Within a robust 40mm stainless steel Oyster case, it boasts a black dial with attractively aged tritium hour markers and the iconic 'Mercedes hands', ensuring optimal legibility in low-light conditions. The rotating bezel, fitted with a black aluminium insert, allows for precise timing during dives. 

Distinguishing it from more recent Submariner Dates; and providing a warm view of the dial particular to vintage watches is the 'top hat' acrylic crystal. The iconic 'Cyclops'  over the date window at 3 o'clock allows the wearer to easily read the date.

The Rolex Calibre 1575 self-winding mechanical movement is renowned for its reliability and precision. When new, the watch was water-resistant up to 200 meters (660 feet), making it suitable for professional diving. It is typically paired with the Oyster bracelet, known for its durability and comfort.
